Member's Meeting Rally, Ripon

Five members attended this rally at Ripon. We arrived on the Friday afternoon and quickly set up our awning to be used as the Rally Arms. There was no point in bringing the club tent with just a low turnout of members. Unfortunately, the winds got up in strength and demolished it. It was the kindness of Alan & Carolyn who came to the rescue and offered us the use of their motorhome, not only for the meeting but also the socials we had on Friday and Saturday evenings. Thank you Alan & Carolyn. On Sunday morning after a Mother’s Day breakfast we got ourselves ready and went our separate ways home.

Easter Rally, Thrybergh

Nine members attended the Easter rally at Thrybergh. The weather? It was a mixture of winds, rain, snow, and sunshine. Ian & Linda had no Camper this weekend, so they had to revert back to a tent. They did say it was quite cozy, just the winds got a bit worrying, after their experience at Ripon. Once again the Farmer’s Market was in attendance on Easter Sunday, though not as many stalls as last year. Still, one was able to buy those juicy burgers and sausage for the B.B.Q which was planned for later that day.

The Easter Bunny made her appearance again this year with a basket of Easter Eggs. This time she wasn’t showing much of her bunny tail. I think the cold weather had something to do with that. The lake looked a little more full this year which was not surprising considering how much rain had fallen recently. Considering what the weather was like, it wasn’t too bad. Yes the ground was a bit boggy, and at times it was rather cold and wet, but nine members did come and support the rally and had an enjoyable good time. So I say to these members, “Thank you”

Dalby Forest Rally

Just three members turned up to one of the most beautiful sites in North Yorkshire. Pexton Moor Farm, on the edge of Dalby Forest. This is an ideal place to come if you are into serious walking. There are several forest walks as well as forest drives. A couple of miles down the road is the village of Thornton-le-Dale. There is a motor museum with cars from the 1960s which are sometimes used in the T.V series “Heartbeat” Seven miles further on is Pickering, with its Steam railway which now runs in to Whitby. We stayed on site doing the forest walk with the dogs. They certainly enjoyed themselves with different scents to sniff at. Nanette made a day visit bringing Ian another awning to replace the one that was destroyed in the gales at Ripon. The weekend was enjoyable, though the weather could have been better.

Forthcoming Rallys

May Day Bank Holiday Rally at the Rose & Crown, Mickleton is a six day rally. For those who are planning to stay the six days please state on the rally booking form. We hope to have a May Pole for dancing around. The only thing missing is some ribbon. Have you got some? Bring it along, and your camera. It should be fun! The holiday rally is in three stages, starting at Ancrum, near to Jedburgh and finishing at Alnwick. Would you kindly state on the rally booking form which stages you will be attending. You only need one booking form, but remember to write stages 1, 2, & 3 on the top of the form. The site owners do want to know in advance how many units will be attending.
