Cornwall Holiday Rally 2007

Eight members made the long journey to Cornwall for the holiday rally. The weather was atrocious most of the time, though we did manage to get out to a few places during the dry spells. The Eden Project was on the top of the touring venue. We used the club’s mini bus to ferry people around as it seemed the most appropriate thing to do as we were all going to the same places of interest.

Once again, the wind managed to break one of our tent poles. That was the second one in a month. After eight days, two of our members gave in to the elements and packed up and went home. The rest of us stuck it out for the rest of the week. After that, two others decided they had had enough and headed off for home. The four remaining members traveled North to the next stage of the holiday rally at Evesham. Again, the weather never let up with continuous rain and windy conditions for the rest of the week.

Member's Meeting, COLBY - August Bank Holiday

It was a good turn out for the Member’s meeting rally at Colby. Gordon arrived with his new motorhome. It’s a beauty Gordon. Well done. Besides the usual reports on the past few months, a list went up for next years rally programme. It was a good and varied list, and I thank you all, to those members that took the time and interest in choosing the venues. Besides the sites listed, there were two other site venues which were brought to our attention. One in the Borders, and the other one in Derbyshire. These will be given consideration, and confirmation of the chosen sites will be made at the A.G.M. Once again, thank you to those who showed an interest.

Sunday afternoon was spent around the Barbie. Gwen provided the salad, Ian supplied the Barbie and Albert gave the wine. The weather was just fine with a gentle breeze blowing. I’ve never seen so many budding chefs trying to outdo each other for that perfect sausage. A grand time was had by all.

Forthcoming Events

A.G.M. Evening Dinner. October 18th – 21st

For those of you, who want to have dinner in the pub restaurant with us on the Saturday Evening, then please book your place as soon as possible. Places are limited and it is hopeful that we can all be seated together. It is this weekend, where hopefully, I can confirm the rally bookings for 2008 with you. Gwen will be collecting subscriptions for next year’s membership. This will save you and the club postage. Membership will be £10 for the year. Please send in your booking form, stating how many for dinner on the social section, as soon as possible, but no later than Monday October 8th to the Rally Secretary.

New Members

Since our last write up, the club has recruited two new members. That makes our membership up to 17. The two latest recruits are both single men, and both called Nick. One is from Leominster, and the other one is from Louth. Welcome aboard Nick & Nick. Nice to have your company.

Rallies For 2008

Ten rallies have been booked and are confirmed for 2008. The holiday rally will be in Scotland, and like this year’s holiday rally, it will be in three stages. This is proving popular with our members having three five day rallies in different parts instead of having two weeks in the one place. We are just waiting for confirmation of four other rallies then our programme will be complete for 2008.
