Obituary - Albert King

Northern Ralliers Camping Club lost one of its most valued and loved member, Albert King, who died following a brave battle with cancer. Albert was a founder member of our club, though many of us had known Albert for at least 20 years. Albert loved camping and he attended, if not all, most rallies, summer and winter. He thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas dinner rally at Rufforth. He served on the committee, and helped tremendously in building up the club. He will be greatly missed by all of us who were close to him. Our sincere condolences go out to his daughter Dawn, son in law John, and grandchildren, Ben and Molly.

Albert was a keen VW enthusiast, and his funeral, held in Barnsley, was a truly VW affair, consisting of a VW hearse and his family and friends making up the cortege with their VW campers.

Spring Bank Holiday Rally, Newshome Manor, Oakworth

Seven members supported this rally. The weather was brilliant, not a cloud in the sky. On the Friday, we all attended Albert’s funeral in Barnsley. This was a sad affair. He will be missed but not forgotten. Saturday for some, it was playing with trains on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, others went site seiing as there is a lot of interesting places to visit in this area. On Sunday, again it was another day of visiting them places that you never got to the day before. There are loads to see here. Sunday afternoon and it was Barbecue time. Burgers, Steaks, and sausages were the norm, and with Ian’s side salad to accompany we were really spoiled. Monday arrived ad for some it was time to get ready for the journey home. Those who were able to stay on till Tuesday made another trip of adventure out. All in all we had a terrific time. A good venue, brilliant weather, and most of all, good company.
